Question: I receive the following error when trying to build a new web in FrontPage 2002 using a template: "The server extensions were unable to access the file "Service.lck". Please check the file permissions."

Reply:

According to Microsoft's Support Article ID 813735, this occurs when you try to create a new Web in C:\My Documents\My Webs\Web_Folder_Name, where Web_Folder_Name is the name of the Web that you are trying to create, and you have a damaged Service.lck file.

The resolution is to either:

Create your new Web in a folder that is not in the My Webs folder

-or-

Empty the My Webs folder before you create your new Web.
